Study On Operating Efficiency Of Small Or Medium-sized Joint-stock Commercial Banks

As an important part of our financial system, the efficiency of commercial banks’ operation and management, will not only help to meet people’s growing demand for financial services, but also provide funding for the growth of China’s economic. Especially with the economic globalization, with the financial system reform of our country more and more deeper, the management of commercial banks in China has to meet new challenges. Researching on the operating efficiency of commercial banks has profound practical needs.This paper selects China’s 12 small or medium-sized joint-stock commercial banks, by using data envelopment analysis(DEA) model, divide the bank’s business activities into the stage of financing and profit, and profit interaction stage is divided into business, intermediate business lending and investment income of three parallel activities by multistage analysis, the study found that:(1) the small or medium-sized joint-stock commercial banks in recent years has gained the rapid increase of comprehensive efficiency;(2) the inefficiency of small or medium-sized joint-stock banks mainly occurred in the acquisition efficiency of the stage;(3) small or medium-sized joint-stock commercial banks get harder to extend loans to profitability, diversification is of great benefit to improve the efficiency of the banks. Based on these conclusions as the management efficiency of small and medium-sized joint-stock banks in China,this paper tries to put forward some useful suggestions.The contribution of this paper lies in:(1) according to the empirical research for China’s small and medium-sized bank shares, and the previous studies put together different banks are not the same, the selected samples can be comparable, but also has the research value;(2) the interaction analysis of multistage, combining with the characteristics of business the banking business, the commercial bank’s business activities are divided into multiple stages such as the absorption of funds to obtain benefits stage and stage of interaction analysis;(3) to improve the input-output index, this paper based on the results of previous studies on the reference input and output indexes were improved to a certain extent, and the influence of non expected output from.
