China is in the period of economy transition. The government plays an important role of the external surrounding of the listed enterprises. It influences the competition among the enterprises as well. The company’s business activities are carried out in a certain institutional circumstance, the external institutional environment must be considered at the strategic decision-making level. According to different institutional environment for the mechanism of enterprise strategic orientation, analyzes its influence on the enterprise performance, so that the enterprise can accord the strategic choice of the environment and own more suitable way to a greater extent in the promotion of enterprise performance.In this paper, we discuss the relations from the strategic direction of regional economic development and the theory of the strategic orientation, the different dimensions of our country economic system environment, enterprise performance. This paper chose listed companies as research object, selected 2008-2012 annual report data, tested the impact of related investment on enterprise performance separately.(1) technology orientation and market orientation have significant positive influence on both enterprise operating margins and market value;(2) technology orientation and market orientation has interaction effects on the relationship with operating margins;(3) The listing Corporation’s institutional environment has a significant positive regulatory effect for between enterprise strategy orientation and business performance.In this paper, financial data and statistical methods were used to verify the theoretical hypothesis, the analysis focuses on the regulatory role of the institutional environment. The results of this paper suggest that technology orientation and market orientation are of great significance for high-tech enterprises, the coordination of both can generate greater influence on firm performance. The results of the study explore the more comprehensive the mechanism of the strategic orientation and enterprise performance. The results support the theoretical analysis.
