Peer-to-Peer(P2P) online Lending is innovative financial organization form which relying on Internet technology. It plays an important role in the small and micro businesses and individuals financing, and is a useful supplement to the traditional financial system. On the one hand, because it is a way of flexible and convenient to trade, and it brings higher yields, the transaction has a high transparency, it sought by the majority of investors. By the end of 2014, the entire P2 P lending industry has over 1500 network lending platform, turnover has more than 240 billion, is two times higher than in 2014,it is twenty times in 2012.However, behind the rapid development of P2 P lending, hidden a series of problems. Because of the low threshold and the absence of regulation, P2 P online lending was mixed up,mixed qualification, and then P2 P online lending platform funding strand breaks, corporate runs away and so on, such incidents occur frequently. All kinds of risks are gradually exposed. Therefore, with the rapid development of P2 P lending at the same time, how to make the entire industry into a healthy and orderly critical orbit, which is very important. This requires the government to regulate P2 P lending industry.In view of the above issues, first of all this paper expounds the background, the related meanings, the characteristics and the classifications of P2 P online lending, then state development status of the P2 P lending in China from three aspects: the industry scale expanding, business model diversification and problem number of P2 P lending platform rising,and then focuses on the risk of P2 P online lending,and carries on the statistical analysis through the questionnaire method,so further understanding of both lenders and borrowers understanding and view about the risks of P2 P as well as the necessity of regulation. Through the above research and analysis, and finally draw lessons from the successful experience of foreign lending to P2 P online lending supervision, it proposes suitable regulatory suggestions for China’s specific conditions four main aspects of the principles of regulation, regulatory agencies, regulatory rules and the external environment.
