Virtual community had a profound influence on work methods and work attitude, which are the direct embodiment of employee engagement, the impact virtual community putting on employee engagement should not be underestimated. This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics and the status of employee engagement in the virtual community and explore the relationship between different virtual community participation and employee engagement. It provides theoretical guidance for the management on employees virtual community participation. In addition, the results of this study also has certain guiding significance on the employee to manage their own virtual community participation.Based on a large number of domestic and foreign literature study and theory analysis, this study defined the concept of virtual community and employee engagement, designed a virtual community participation feature measurement scale, revised the employee engagement measurement scale, then studied its specific structure by factor analysis method; attained the first-hand dataof virtual community participation characteristics and employee the engagement by questionnaire and on-the-spot investigation, and then used the descriptive statistics, variance analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis and other methods to carry on processing to the data. The study explored the characteristics of virtual community and the present situation of employee engagement, the differences between virtual community participation characteristics and employee engagement in the statistical variables, the relationship between virtual community participation and employee engagement and each dimension, the forecast virtual community participation characteristics putting on employee engagement. The important theoretical and practical significance of the study conclusions are as follows:(1) Various types of virtual communities are showing the same character that the emotional scored the highest, the activity scored the lowest. Relational virtual community got the highest score in the two dimensions, interested virtual community got the lowest score in the two dimensions.In each dimension of employee engagement scores, self adjustment scored the highest, staying scored the lowest.(2) Significant differences exist between virtual community participation and the overall level of employee engagement and dimensions in many statistical variables; part of the virtual community participation has significant relationship to the feature and the overall level of employee engagement;some virtual community participation has significant effect on employee engagement level and dimensions.Precious measure of employee engagement is the premise to improve it, virtual community participation management and participation control is the breakthrough to enhance the employee engagement under the background of new era, the virtual community involved employee privacy, fully communicating with staff in advance is necessary, attaining the understanding and support of the staff is the key to promote the employee engagement and adjust the virtual community participation. Different staff showed different engagement characteristics, enterprises should attain the same recognition with employees to make a measurement system on employee engagement and virtual community participation; then combine with the characteristics of virtual community participation to improve employee engagement. Employees themselves should adjust their participation depend on their employee engagement.There are 12 figures.29 tables and 98 references in this thesis.
