Research On Efficiency Of Leisure Agriculture In Pixian Based On DEA

Leisure agriculture, burgeoning in our country progressively since the end of 20th century, has developed to the highlight of local agriculture and rural economies transformation. It could solve the agriculture-related issues in China effectively in three aspects:increasing rural employment carrying capacity to enhance the promotion of farmers; completing rural infrastructures to create ecological new countryside; extending agriculture multifunction to stimulate agriculture transformation and upgrading. As the new format of modernized agriculture development, leisure agriculture combined eco-agriculture and ecotourism. At the meantime, its green orientation is beneficial to push the green transition of agriculture production, residents’ lifestyle and customer consumption mode, and to construct eco-industrial economy. However, in this bright future situation, our country’s leisure agriculture is still facing dilemma because of late starting and slow development, even we have compacted industrial basement and broad market.Pixian, a county in Sichuan province, as the cradle of agritourism, possessing solid foundation for developing leisure agriculture, pioneered the agritourism activities in southwestern China. Upstream geographical condition and the location advantage present Pixian a platform to promote leisure agriculture. Unfortunately, transition hysteresis results in the development predicament of efficiency promotion, function optimizing and gathering talents. In this circumstance, leisure agriculture cannot exert a positive influence on industrial transition, revitalizing agriculture and driving regional economic and social development.This thesis research the developmental efficiency of leisure agriculture based on Pixian. Through combining the qualitative and quantitative methods, the influence factors of leisure agriculture developmental efficiency have been analyzed. Through the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with choosing the input indicators including manpower resource, material resource, financial resource and the output indicators including economic effectiveness and social effectiveness, the technique efficiency, pure technique efficiency, scale efficiency of 13 leisure agriculture demonstration sites in Pixian have been analyzed. The results show that overall efficiency, input-output efficiency and scale efficiency of leisure agriculture in Pixian are all low. Then through a combination of the subjective and objective approaches, the developmental efficiency of leisure agriculture in Pixian have been evaluated and analyzed. In the end, based on the quantitative analysis result, this thesis has exploringly presented coping strategies to increase the developmental efficiency of leisure agriculture in Pixian with considering the current situation of Pixian from the input indicators including manpower resource, material resource, financial resource. These strategies can provide beneficial reference to the places which have the same situation with Pixian.
