Locker Boxes Overbooking Strategy Of Delivery Lockers

With the rapid development of B2C e-commerce, the last mile problem becomes more and more serious. As one of supplementary solutions to the last mile problem, the appearance and rapid development of delivery lockers provides an effective solution. Now, there are many enterprises which have established thousands of delivery lockers. Therefore, it’s important for enterprises established delivery lockers to make full use of current existing delivery lockers, reduce the idle time of locker boxes, and improve the supply ability in order peak.Based on the using process of the delivery lockers, this dissertation points out the supply ability of the existing delivery lockers is insufficient on order peak and idle in sometimes. Then the causes of the problems are found by analyzing-enterprises ignore the situations that customers pick up goods at parcel transportation or distribution stage, and cancel order after parcel transportation stage but before putting parcel in the delivery lockers when they allow customers choose delivery lockers to put their goods selected in it. Aiming at the problems that the delivery lockers are insufficient on order peak and idle in sometimes, this dissertation considers the situations that customers pick up goods at parcel transportation or distribution stage and cancel orders after parcel transportation stage but before putting parcel in the delivery lockers, to build a locker boxes overbooking model which reflects the characteristics of delivery lockers, by the experience of the overbooking model of revenue management strategy. Then this dissertation selected J company to verify the validity and reliability of the overlooking model. The model is effective and available after analysis and optimization combined with the characteristics and status of J company and it can also provide a new way to optimize the use of delivery lockers of other companies which operate delivery lockers. In the end, risk control and recovery strategy to locker boxes overbooking are proposed.
