| China’s economy has been rapidly developing for more than thirty years, creating a growth miracle in the world. Currently, China’s economic growth has entered into a period of strategic opportunity, shifting from high-speed growth to rapid growth. Under the "new normal economy", our country will gradually shift the focus from economic growth rate to economic growth quality. Changing mode and adjusting the structure have become the major issues to be solved in the process of social and economic development. As one of the key cities of development in Jiangsu Province, China’s major economic center city, regional transport hub and a famous tourist attraction resort, Wuxi has witnessed rapid economic growth. However, like most areas in our country, Wuxi also faces many obstacles hindering its sustainable economic development and there are some problems on economic structure after entering into "The Twelfth Five-year Plan", such as unsound industrial structure, obvious rural-urban disparity and investment-oriented economic growth and so on. Therefore, adjusting the industrial structure, changing the mode of economic growth and improving the quality of economic growth remain essential for the sustainable development of the social economy in Wuxi.At present, China’s economic development is in a crucial period of industrial restructuring and upgrading. So, it has become a hot discussion in academia that what kind of industrial structure is more conducive to sound and rapid economic development. Against such background, this paper studied how Wuxi’s industrial structure change influences the quality of economic growth. Through building econometric model of industrial structure and the quality of economic growth, this paper studies how Wuxi’s industrial structure change influences the quality of economic growth from the perspective of rationalization of industrial structure and its high degree of integration, aiming to put forward some constructive policy recommendations on the stable and efficient economic development in Wuxi as well as provide some reference for the industrial structure optimization and upgrading in the other similar areas.This paper mainly studied how the industrial structure change in Wuxi influences the economic growth quality from the the following four aspects:(1) Describe the industrial structure in Wuxi. This paper analyses the industrial structure changes in Wuxi from the perspective of output and employment, and chose the Theil index and the ratio between the output of Tertiary Industry and the output of the Second Industry to measure the industrial structure optimization and upgrading, calculating the index value of the industrial structure optimization and upgrading in Wuxi as well as describing the process of the industrial structure optimization and upgrading in Wuxi.(2) Built a comprehensive evaluation system of economic growth quality and calculated the changes of economic growth quality in Wuxi using the PCA(principal component analysis) of SPSS software.(3) The core content of this paper is the quantitative analysis of the industrial structure changes and economic growth quality in Wuxi. Establishing Multiple Regression Model and Error Correction Model, data co-integration test and the relationship between Granger Causality test and Economic Growth Quality are the main parts of demonstration.(4)Through the shift- share analysis and comparative analysis of the industrial structure in Wuxi, this paper took the industrial structure status in Wuxi into consideration and found some problems existing in the industrial structure and thus put forward some restructuring measures accordingly.It can be drawn from the empirical results that there is a long-term stable equilibrium relationship between industrial structure and the quality of economic growth, and the improvement of the rationalization of industrial structure as well as its high degree of integration is conductive to the sound and rapid economic growth. But there are still some problems in the industrial structure of Wuxi, such as low level of industrial structure, insufficient development of tertiary industry, high proportion of secondary industry, poor coordination among Thrice Industries, dislocation between industrial output and employment structure, uneven labor distribution in Thrice Industries, Independent innovation ability, and weak impetus ability of high-tech industry as leading industry. Therefore, this paper targets to make some constructive suggestions on the adjustment direction of the current industrial structure in Wuxi according to the research results, hoping to enhance the level of economic growth quality in Wuxi. |
