Cultivated land quality monitoring is the dynamic monitoring of the change of the cultivated land quality, which is based on the classification of farmland quality and the investigation of land resources. This work is not only the application and development of the results of agricultural land classification, at the same time, it also has a very important significance in ensuring food security and sustainable development of economy in China. To carry out dynamic monitoring of cultivated land quality on the basis of the existing cultivated land quality, the first step is to carry out a scientific and rational division of the monitored area, monitoring type districts can make relevant departments of land management have a macro understanding of the change of cultivated land quality in this area, distribution and data analysis on the basis of the monitoring can guarantee that the the relevant administrative departments have a specific grasp to the change of cultivated land quality, through the work can fully understand the changes of the regional cultivated land, and can better protect and use of cultivated land.By referring to the relevant literature at home and abroad, firstly, according to the research on the monitoring of cultivated land quality and cultivated land quality of the domestic and foreign scholars, summarizes the related achievements on cultivated land quality concept, quality of cultivated land factors, cultivated land quality monitoring method and technology. On this basis, the main driving factors which may cause the change of cultivated land quality are studied in depth, the main driving factors can be divided into the following two categories:the natural driving factors and human driven factors. The three indexes of natural index, land use index and social economic index are selected as the basis for the classification of the monitoring area, then according to the regional characteristics of the study area, from four aspects include the actual land grain production, the distribution of natural quality of cultivated land, the pressure transfer of rural labor force of all the villages, and urban construction pressure of the study area, then get four monitoring types, which are urban functional zoning, rural labor force transfer pressure zoning, zoning of natural quality of arable land and the actual output of arable land. The preliminary partition results are processed by the superposition, finally, the scheme of Xian’tao cultivated land quality monitoring type area was formed and 35 cultivated land quality monitoring types of zones were delineated, which provided the basis for the field investigation and the sampling point layout of the cultivated land quality monitoring in the later period. In addition, on the basis of the study of the 35 monitoring types of zones the key monitoring areas, the sub key monitoring areas and the optional monitoring areas were divided, and puts forward the suggestion of monitoring: the monitoring sample point set are more need in the key monitoring areas, the monitoring period is one year. Relative reduction of monitoring sample points for the sub key monitoring areas, the monitoring period is set for two to three years. And the optional monitoring areas need as little as possible to set the monitoring sample point, monitoring cycle can be set to four to five years. Then on the basis of monitoring region classification, choosing 10 key monitoring regions and 7 secondly key monitoring regions to study how to deploy monitoring unit. By using landscape connectivity to reflect representativeness of the monitoring unit in space. and then through the buffer analysis of the main traffic road and main construction land, eliminating the monitoring unit which is within the buffer, finally 31 monitoring unit are screened out.
