As the first batch of approved the restructuring of China locally incorporated banks in 2007, the HSBC China retail banking has a strong influence in thepart of eastern major area in China after the rapid expansion and development for more than ten years.HSBC China retail banking business in China is facing many challenges and opportunities. It will be the key to achieve competitive advantage is that HSBC can timely and accurately adjust the competitive strategy.This paper takes HSBC China retail banking as the object of study. First, describes the HSBC China retail banking business at this stage is focus strategy, then we pointed out that the bank at this stage of the competition strategy no longer appliesafter analyzing the change strategy background.Second, analysis of the external environment of HSBC China retail banking business by using "Five Forces Model", found the competition from same industry and the threat from the ability of buyers are the most prominentimpact on the development of HSBC China. Third, this paper usesthe econometric method with empirical part. Fourth, analysis of the internal environment of HSBC China retail banking business respectively from theinternal resources and capability, and points out the unique advantage of HSBC China is businessprocessing system has a global network, it can be the first time provide the global financial informationfor customers. Finally, according to the strategic objectives of HSBC China retail banking business, HSBC China retail banking business should adopt the differentiation strategy, and combined the result of "Five Forces Model", HSBC China should focus on building internet electronic business platform, make better to play to global network platform strengths.This paper from the perspective of HSBC China, combined with the background of the current strategy and HSBC China’s resources and capabilities, explicit competition, achieve unique competitive advantage through adopt the better strategy and specific measures.
