Topological relations, direction relations and distance relationship are the basic content in GIS, and they are also the basis of spatial data query, organizing, reasoning and analysis, which are a key in spatial information science. Topological relationship is an important characteristic of spatial data, and topological relationship plays an important role in the analysis and application of spatial data, therefore it is very important to study on topological relation of spatial data. At present the research of spatial topological relationship is very much and has achieved fruitful results. But the main results mainly concentrated on the certainty spatial data, and it is less for the study of topological relations of spatial data uncertainty.Uncertainty of area should be considered in topological relationship research because of inherent characteristics of spatial data. Although 9- intersectional model is a more perfect method for describing topological relationship, it do not handle uncertainty of topological relationship. This paper introduces rough sets to study topological relation of spatial surface entity. It uses rough sets to describe uncertainty area and introduces upper approximation, lower approximation to 9-intersectional model, which can deal with topological relationship of spatial data with considering spatial data uncertainty.This paper mainly studies topological relation and dynamic topological relation of two surface entities. The main research objects are a set of precise area and a set of rough area, and it lists out all kinds of situation through method of analysis and drawing. The mainly research works follow:(1)Summarize research status and basic theory of topological relationship and rough set.(2)On the basis of 9-intersectional model, combining the rough set theory, it analyzes topological relationship between surface entities and new topology will be described for chart.(3)It uses rough set to describe changes of uncertainty area, and studies topological relationship of precise area and uncertainty area.(4)Study changes of dynamic topology of precise area and uncertainty area and analyze and express every case.As it considers the uncertainty data, dynamic topology is a fundamental entity extension based on surface entities of rough set, which is reasonable and scientific. The research result is an important supplement to existing theory of topological relationship.
