Due to cylindrical shells with their good geometrical characteristics, high specific strength, high specific modulus, and ease of processing, and small thickness, light quality, low supplies, and good performance characteristics, There are numerous engineering applications for cylindrical shell structures. Furthermore, it should be noted that there are widespread engineering applications of rotating shells in modern industry. The vibration problems of rotating thin cylindrical shell is highlighted,and because of traveling wave's vibrations. So the vibration characteristics of rotating cylindrical shell is more complex. Therefore, it is essential for rotating cylindrical shell to analyse detailedly the vibration characteristics.In this paper, the vibration characteristics of thin-walled cylindrical shell were studied. Transfer matrix method, and numerical simulation of the inherent characteristics are obtained. Moreover, Transfer matrix method is used to analyse traveling wave's vibrations of rotating shells,and numerical simulation of resonance analysis.The main research contents of this paper are as following:(1) Based on Love's shell theory, the governing differential equations for stationary cylindrical shell are derived.In order to obtain the transfer matrix of solving natural frequency, the state vector method is introdued, and converting the constitutive equation.(2) The inherent characteristics of thin cylindrical Shells was solved using the finite element analysis method. Using the transfer matrix method obtain the solution of natural frequency under different boundary conditions. Some numerical example are analysed Modal test is used to analyze the natural characteristics of the clamped-free cylindrical shells.the result is compared with that derived with the finite element analysis method and transfer matrix method.(3) The transfer matrix of rotating cylindrical shell is determined by establishing the kinetic equation, transforming differential equations, and using the transfer matrix method. It is easy to get the characteristic equation and solution expressions of analysing traveling wave's vibrations rotating shells under different boundary conditions.(4) Aimed at rotating thin-walled cylindrical shell,finite element software ANSYS is used for numerical simulation analysis resonance characteristics of rotating thin-walled cylindrical shell. Resonance of low nodal diameters and high nodal diametersc is studied. The influencing parameters of resonance is analysed, including element type, length-diameter ratio, and thickness-diameter ratio.
