Through summarizing the application status of fractal geometry in plant root system, the paper points out that the function of different root level to plant growth had been ignored when fractal geometry was applied to the determination of plant root system in the past. According to the existing problems and the actual growth situation of the plant, this paper gives different weights to each root level when calculating root dimension by fractal and improves the root system dimension measurement method. Meanwhile, the method is applied to the root system dimension measurement of pinus sylvestris var. mongolica seedlings and get the accurate root dimension of 1-5 years pinus sylvestris var. mongolica seedlings.On research of the relationship between root dimension and the growth years, establishes the root dimension forecast model of pinus sylvestris var. mongolica by Logistic model, and estimates that the root system dimension of 15 years pinus sylvestris var. mongolica can be basically stable. It is consistent with the actual growth situation of pinus sylvestris var. mongolica in Zhanggutai, Zhangwu County.
