For the registration of satellite images, although far more mature and perfect, but due to the different spectral characteristics of the imaging principle satellite sensors, it is impossible to apply a system of registration of all satellite images and can reach a certain accuracy.AROP (Automated Registration and Orthorectification Package) is study and write by the LEDAPS (Landsat Ecosystem Disturbance Adaptive Processing System) group of the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration under. It is mainly processed Landsat and Landsat satellite imagery for the class, but AROP can not be automated processing environment for the development of our own satellite data, and can achieve sub-pixel accuracy. The main reason is because there is still a gap between the resolution and Landsat satellite data environment, it can not find a sufficient number of control points for image geometric correction during processing, in order to solve the problem, its principle author conducted a deep research, and its source code has been modified and improved, and finally to enable the environment to automate the processing of satellite images, and accuracy of 0.5 pixel, by the end of this article compares the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Earth Remote Sensing geometry processing systems and the development of environmental satellite data AROP registration results, its error analysis and accuracy assessment.The main contents of this paper is divided into two areas:(1) study for each module and the system works of AROP Because AROP by NASA research group for the medium-resolution satellite image processing of Landsat satellite images as well as their own and their similar sensors, but the quality and resolution of environmental satellite images are present differences with the Landsat image, so in order to make it applicable to the environment star images it must to be study on AROP working principle and process, and its code has been modified so that the environment can be a star on the satellite image processing, and can reach 0.5 pixel accuracy.(2) by comparing AROP and geometric processing system HJ-B processing results of data analysis of both their advantages and disadvantages, and to evaluate the accuracy. Tests showed that the plain areas, the accuracy is almost the same, but for the mountains, the accuracy of the results of AROP was superior geometry processing systems, mainly before image registration, AROP of orthorectified satellite image processing, removed from the terrain fluctuation error caused, and no pretreatment system geometry directly to the registration images, which is the main reason for poor accuracy, the accuracy of the influence of additional other sources of error, such as changes in the curvature of the earth, cloud cover different degrees and other reasons.Finally, the conclusion is AROP environmental satellite data for China can be automated processing and meet the accuracy 0.5 pixels, so you can put AROP applied to actual projects and applications.
