As the transition zone of Land-Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone (LOICZ), estuarine wetland, which combines freshwater ecosystem, seawater ecosystem, brackish ecosystem and the complicated system integrated with tidal flat wetland ecosystem, is obviously impacted by the radical direction tide. There are various kinds of process coupling, complicated evolutionary mechanism, and fragile ecosystem. In the meantime, there are flamboyant habitat types and rich biodiversity. It provides not only places for living things inhabiting and breeding, but also public spaces for people's recreation. However, in the recent years, the lack of consistent planning and argumentation, blind reclaim and city expansion lead to the decrease of the wetland area. The resource situation and the degeneration of ecological functions are drawing the governmental attentions of all countries.Taking Erjingwan Estuarine Wetland for example, the paper specifically explores the unique resource, ecology and humanity values of estuarine wetland as the transitional ecosystem between land and sea. It carefully analyzes the environmental pollution and ecological damage caused by long-term polder, overfishing, unrestricted discharge of pollutants and invasion of alien species, etc. The paper puts forward the idea of comprehensively renovating and restoring estuarine wetland by adopting the theories of rehabilitation ecology and eco-aesthetics.The paper is divided into 3 parts:Firstly, it approaches the relevant concepts, such as wetland's definition, classification and function. Furthermore, the paper summarizes the status quo of both domestic and international research on estuarine wetland. By analyzing the typical problems existing in our country's estuarine wetland and the counter-measures, this paper tries to find out the strategies of future renovation and restoration. Secondly, based on the relevant theories of rehabilitation ecology, etc., the paper completely discusses the multi-disciplinary theoretical basis for estuarine wetland renovation and restoration in terms of ecological restoration and protection, landscape tourism and gardening aesthetics. The application of landscaping measures and the thoughts of multi-disciplinary and composite strategy of estuarine wetland restoration features this paper as an innovative idea. Thirdly, the paper deals with case study by adopting the above estuarine wetland renovation and restoration theories. Taking Erjingwan Estuarine Wetland for example, the paper discusses the basic functions of ecological demonstration, ecological tourism, scientific research demonstration in the estuarine wetland's renovation and restoration, with respect to resources background, use of status quo, wetland ecological restoration, flora and fauna planning, water purification, etc., in order to realize the sustainable development of island economy, society and environment. Finally, this paper concluded that the construction and exploitation of wetland space in coastal cities play a critical role in the promotion of city image and the restoration of wetland itself. The renovation strategy ought to be landscape-oriented and area-specific in order to protect and restore wetland so that the sustainable renovation goal is achieved.
