Beach resource has become an important source of countries in the world and the natural resource wealth. Artificial beach nourishment is an important development trend in recent years and a well-respected coast protection measures in China and abroad in recent years. The reasonableness of design profiles for beach nourishment determines the adaptability of nourished beach to the hydrodynamic conditions of the site. It is strongly emphasized that the influence of design factors to beach stability should be analyzed from hydrodynamic view.This paper introduces the development of artificial beach engineering at home and abroad, the research progress of beach balance profile theory and the numerical model of the development of profile evolution model. XBeach model is introduced in the theoretical basis, including wave model, sediment model and morphological updating model, etc. XBeach model is used for validating the Roelvink and Stive experiment and the CROSSTEX experiment and transverse sediment transport mechanism is analysed. Using erosion and deposition environment and hydrodynamic characteristics of the Xiamen Haitan Beach, the beach nourishment profile is designed. The response of different design proposals is simulated under various wave and tide condition to assess the influence of different design factors, such as median diameter of filled sand, beach berm width, beach berm height to profile stability, which provides technical support for determining the reasonable design parameters. The profile transected from 2D model is similar to the profile of 1D model, which illustrates coastal sediment transport can be ignored in the short term.
