Oceans cover three-quarters of the area of the earth, and it is one of the main factors to decide the development of climate on earth, and it directly affects the energy circulation and material circulation between the ocean, land and atmosphere. But the ocean is changeable, sometimes it is roaring waves, and sometimes is calm. Ocean contains a large number of resources available for human exploitation and benefits mankind, but at the same time, the variability of ocean often brings great disaster. So, in order to use of ocean resources better and reduce the disaster, people pay more and more attention to the ocean environment monitoring, and establish ocean observatory to measure wave height, wind speed and other information.There are many kinds of ocean observatory, and ocean wave buoy is one kind of the very important kinds of ocean observatory. Ocean wave buoy is a kind of automatic observatory, and it places the buoy on the surface of the ocean, no matter the weather is good or bad, it can observe the hydrometeorological at sea and provide valuable references for related departments. National Marine Standards and Metrology Center established a wave buoy detection device at the end of 2000, and later on made some mechanical and electrical control optimization for the original device. The device uses a double loop truss structure, and it uses the truss turns the buoy to do sinusoidal motion, and the device is suitable for surge wave buoy detection. In this paper, a standard linear ocean wave buoy detection device has been proposed, and the device is controlled by PLC, and servo motor drives the buoy up and down reciprocating linear motion, imitating variable frequency and amplitude value pulse wave.Firstly, the paper summarizes the development and the use of the ocean wave buoy detection device at home and abroad, and then put forward the standard linear wave buoy detection method. This paper introduces the design of all parts of the system, including the system overall structure, the design of the power system structure and control system structure. And it introduces some related peripheral equipments and components selection, including PLC, servo motor selection and detecting element photoelectric switch, displacement sensor, the selection of the encoder. In addition, this paper specially designs a PC control interface for the device with Visual C++ MFC framework, and it can provide convenience for users to monitor the buoy operation. At the end of the paper, it uses Pro/E to model for the device, and combines with ADAMS software on the movement simulation, improving the feasibility of the design.
