In China, Panzhihua-Xichang region is an important metallogenic belt of vanadium-titanium magnetite, and is also one of the most important iron ore bases, whose ore reserve takes up around 15% in gross reserves of iron ore in China. Major mine areas include four mineral deposits: Panzhihua, Hongge, Taihe and Baima, and all of them are large or extra-large iron deposits. Except for iron, vanadium and titanium, ore is also rich in rare and dispersed elements(named rare-dispersed elements for short): scandium, gallium, germanium, niobium, cobalt, nickel and platinum group elements(PGE: osmium, iridium, ruthenium, rhodium, platinum and palladium), etc.Currently, iron, vanadium and titanium have been utilized basically. However, elements that have high economic value like dispersed metal: Sc, Ga, Ge, In and Cd; rare metal: Nb and Ta; and precious metal: Os, Ir, Ru, Rh, Pt and Pd are not utilized efficiently. These elements are discharged as waste into mine tailings, which leads to enormous waste of resources and heavy metal pollution. This paper is based on my supervisor's project- Research of general situation of associated rare-dispersed elements in vanadium-titanium magnetite of Panzhihua. I, the researcher, carry out an on-the-spot wild investigation and sample in stratified rock mass of Panzhihua, and 49 samples are collected together. Through ICP-MS, 48 samples are analyzed and I get the relevant data of samples' major elements, microelement and rare earth elements. Based on the data and through correlation analysis and cluster analysis, this paper analyzes the whole stratified rock mass of Panzhihua and the correlation between scandium and major elements, microelement and rare earth elements respectively in different lithofacies zones. Then this paper researches and discusses the geochemical features and concentration regularity of scandium in stratified rock mass of Panzhihua.Through above studies, following conclusions are made:(1)In stratified rock mass of Panzhihua, the scandium content presents rhythm variability from the bottom to the top, which accords with the cyclothem of stratified rock mass of Panzhihua. That is to say, scandium comparatively concentrates at the bottom of each cyclothem.(2)In stratified rock mass of Panzhihua, different types of rocks, ranked by scandium content from the lowest to the highest, are anorthosite(average 4.949?g/g), gabbro(average 20.723?g/g), olivine gabbro(average 20.868?g/g), olive pyroxenite(average 47.340?g/g). Obviously, there is no big difference among scandium contents of gabbro, olivine gabbro. While the scandium content of biotite schist is twice as much as that of gabbro, olivine gabbro.(3)In the process of evaluation from basic rocks to acid rocks, with the increase of Si O2 and the decrease of magnesium and other elements, scandium content of stratified rock mass of Panzhihua shows a gradual decreasing tendency in general. But some changes also appear in local, like the highest scandium content appears at the bottom of the upper light color gabbro.(4)In stratified rock mass of Panzhihua, the average scandium content of iron ore is 21.173?g/g. The average scandium content of the upper light color layered gabbro is 26.869?g/g. And the average scandium content of the lower dark color layered gabbro is 25.613?g/g and of the bottom ore zone is 24.922?g/g. It is can be seen that scandium content of rocks increases gradually from the bottom to the top.(5)In stratified rock mass of Panzhihua, the relationship between scandium and iron, vanadium, titanium, manganese, cobalt and other elements is so close, and they have positive correlation; Scandium have negative correlation with silicon, aluminum, sodium and other elements; There is no correlation between scandium and rare earth elements.
