With the acceleration of urbanization, the number of urban population and vehicles expand dramatically, therefore people's daily needs for traveling continue to increase. However, the existing transport resources has been difficult to meet the rapid growth in traffic demand, and the ensuing traffic congestion seriously restricted the city's economic construction and social development. An increasing number of cities implement public transport priority policy to reduce traffic congestion and promote urban development. Public transport plays an increasingly important role in the urban transportation system, and it will undertake a greater proportion and have a significant impact on city development and people's lives. The reliability of the urban bus transport network has become an essential issue and exerted wide public concerns. Our paper based on complex network theory, select two kind of distinct ter-rain feature cities:Lanzhou and Xi'an as objects to investigate the vulnerability of bus transport network. We simulated how the nodes was failure and the edges between different communities was failure can affect the connectivity of the network. Firstly, introduce the basic concepts of complex network theory, the research status of transport network as well as the robustness and vulnerability of complex network; Secondly, generate Lanzhou and Xi'an bus transport network model based on empir-ical data and study their basic topological properties; Thirdly, investigate the effect of network connectivity by random failure and deliberate attack based degree, be-tweenness, PageRank algorithm three strategies. Fourthly, from the perspective of the community structure, calculate the community division of both networks, eval-uate the effect of connectivity for each communities when edges between different communities are failure.Simulation results demonstrate that both bus networks are relatively robust to random failure and more vulnerable to deliberate attack, and PageRank is an excellent criterion applied to identify key nodes in undirected bus transport network; meanwhile, both networks have obvious characteristics of community structure and the connection between communities is sparse, some communities will become an isolated connected component when very few edges failure. Compare results we can found that significant differences in terrain feature did not have a strong impact on topological properties and network vulnerability that faced with different types of attacks of both bus transport network; however, their distinct terrain features significantly affect the community division and the vulnerability of communities in both networks, community division of Lanzhou bus transport network is limited by its narrow terrain features as well as Yellow River and the railroad twice split urban areas, many communities located inside the city are fragile, for Xi'an bus transport network, its community division is almost not limited by the urban terrain, vulnerable communities mostly located in suburbs and outer suburbs, communities inside the city are robust.
