With the rapid development of Internet technology, a lot of information has been emerging. It will be an important trend to improve the performance of chaotic secure communication. Memristor is the fourth basic components, because of its nonlinear, small size, low power consumption, easy integration and non-volatile, it is very suitable for the application of chaotic signal source circuit. Compared with the traditional double scroll chaotic attractors, multi-scroll chaotic attractors have more complex dynamic characteristic for the richer jump can be achieved between the various scroll. Therefore, a simple circuit realization of complex multi- scroll chaotic attractors rapid development. But in the existing multi-scroll chaotic systems, the structures of most nonlinear function are very complex. Therefore, the design of superior memristor-based multi-scroll chaotic system is a meaningful work. The generation of multi-scroll chaotic attractors usually based on extending the saddle points index 2 of double scroll chaotic system by constructing various nonlinear functions. In this thesis, the design of multi-scroll chaotic system is improved from the classic Chua circuit, using N parallel connected memristors construct multi piecewise linear function replace the Chua’s diode in Chua circuit, whereby the single direction distribution of multi-scroll chaotic system based on parallel connected memristors is generated. Theoretical analysis of the system are given to verify the feasibility of this approach. Using circuit duality theory, the multi-scroll chaotic system based on series connected memristors can be obtained by analyzing the dual form of multi-scroll chaotic system based on parallel connected memristors. Setting the multi-scroll chaotic system based on parallel connected memristors as the minimum unit, a multi-directional multi-scroll system can be designed by asymmetric coupling two or three minimum units and analysis of the distribution and the corresponding equilibrium phase trajectory simulation also given in the thesis. Finally, the conclusions that the output signal of multi-scroll chaotic system based on parallel connected memristors is more complex than memristor-based Chua’s circuit, and the output signal based on v-i model is more complex than based on φ-q model in the same system can be gotten by applying the chaotic signal of multi-scroll chaotic system based on parallel connected memristors and memristor-based Chua’s circuit to image encryption respectively.
