Abacus is a Chinese traditional calculate tool which evolved by the counting rod,it was invited by Chinese ancient people with a long history and deep culture precipitation.Abacus combines the “nature science,culture education,Aesthetic Concepts,Although people’s life style,political economy,and folk culture in different historical periods show different appearance,but the abacus maintained the original shape and species,so it is convince for people to investigate product design and culture and it is a window for scholars to learn Social customs,science and technology development at that time.Symbolism design was chosen as a rule for Chinese people,it has three steps : 1.Shape simulate 2.Adding emotion 3.Using Aesthetics.It shows the attitude that Chinese people think culture is as important as aesthetics when creation.Different products show different values and aesthetic taste at different era,so How does a product looks like is determined by the aesthetic and culture at that time.Chinese people use Abacus for hundreds of years,there must be some reasons for it.I think it has a positive significance by analyzing the abacus with its inherent design ideas,and it can be a contribution for the world design.
