The knowledge of the atomic structures of the halogens(F,Cl,Br,I)is of considerable importance for the research and development of chemical lasers.The study of atomic hyperfine(hf)structure plays an important role in the fields of quantum electrodynamics,cosmology,cold atomic physics and physical constants measurement.However,the fine/hyperfine structure of bromine atom is still poorly understood.In order to produce the excited neutral bromine atoms,the gas mixture of bromine(Br2)and helium(He)(pressure ratio:Br2:He-130)was used to glow discharge.A Ti:sapphire laser was used as the light source,the hf structure absorption spectra of the Gauss line of the bromine atom were obtained by the concentration modulation spectroscopy(CMS)in the range of 11 300 cm-1 to 12 600 cm-1.The spectra of molecular iodine obtained by the differential detection technique were used to calibrate the frequency position of the bromine atom absorption spectra.Based on the hf structure theory,the programs Element and Fitter were used to simulate the spectra accurately,and the hf structure constants A and B were determined.In this paper,the hyperfine structure of 45 transition spectra was analyzed and magnetic dipole constants A of 20 levels of even parity and 27 levels of odd parity were determined.The hf structure constants A of 12 even levels and 21 odd levels were newly found.The electric quadrupole hyperfine structure constants of all 47 levels were reported for the first time.This paper made great progress in the study of the hyperfine structure of atomic bromine,which provided a reference for the further study,as well as the experimental and theoretical research on neutral atomic bromine.
