Whitecap was the performance of broken waves in the surface of the sea.Whether the whitecap appeared or not,it had a great correlation with the steepness of the waves, and the wave breaking process was very important,it's the medium of the exchange of water mass, momentum, energy, heat and gas in the interface layer.A comprehensive understanding of the wave breaking mechanism and the elimination and parameterizing whitecap coverage accurately had a crucial role for air-sea interaction, ocean remote sensing and ocean engineering. This paper summarized the research progress of wave breaking and whitecap coverage, expounded the significance of whitecap coverage, and pointed out the environmental impact factors. In order to simulate the whitecap coverage of the global sea area, the whitecap coverage model was improved based on the wave breaking parameters.Based on the statistical theoretical model for wave breaking,we had theoretically estimated the ratio of the kinetic energy and potential energy. Its range and application were discussed in this thesis. It was determined that the kinetic energy and potential energy ratio was between 3 and 30,and in our study we considered ?=8.We revised the value of the bubble function FT,FT = 0.75.Then we used the least squares method to obtain Cen= 0.1777,n =-1.713.In the general sea states, the new coefficients were improved and verified, and compared with whitecap coverage estimated from routine satellite measurements.
