The Automomous Region in Junger Coalfield of the Inner Mongoliahas abundant coal resources. The enrichment of many associated elements wasin several coal seams of this area.Boolean Tao Hai area of the Junger Coalfield has relatively simple geological structure, thick, stable and easily-recoverable coal seams, among which the No.6 coal seam is the main minableseams.Based onthe investigation of thepetrological and geochemical characteristics of coal, and the distribution of coal associated elements, this study provides meaningfulinsights for scientific and effectiveutilization of coal resources and environmental protection.Based on the methods such as coupled plasma(ICP)experimental method, this paper investigated the petrologicaland geochemical characteristics of coal,as well as the content and occurrence condition of coal associated elements, discussed the origin, distribution andgeologic controlling factors of major and associated elements in the Boolean Tao Hai area of the Junger Coalfield. This study mainly obtained four achivements:The No.6 coal seam in the Boolean Tao Hai area was mainly developed in theparalic facies with relative dry depositional environment. The coal ischaracterized by low ash,low sulfur, low phosphorus,extra-low chlorine, high fluorine and middle-to-high volatile, and belongs to low metamorphic non-caking coal. The major elements of coal mainly include SiO2 and Al2O3,corresponding to average contents of 36.64% and 32.86,respectively.Other major elements are CaO(12.57%),SO3(5.73%)and Fe2O3(4.19%),and the remain major elements such as MgO,TiO2,Na2O and K2O only have low contents.By comparing and analyzing the ratio of SiO2/Al2O3 and the correlation between elements and ash contents, this study suggested that kaoliniteis the main mineral in the coal is kaolinite, and then the boehmite, calcite, anda small amount of quartz. The coalwas mainly derived from compaction and dehydration of allitic colloforms in the ancient land of the Yin Mountain, whereas part of it was resulted from desilication and alteration of kaolinite in the acid condition(usually in the leat). The original materials of allitic colloforms were mainly derived from weathering of aluminosilicate rock(including acidic ganite of Caledonian and Hercynian such as plagiogranite, adamellite, moyite, aplite granite, etc.)in the ancient land of the Yin Mountain. Some trace associated elements such as Ga,Li and F are enriched in the coal seams whereas other trace associated elements like P,Cl,As,Ge,and V are none-significant.Ga is mainly enriched in the boehmite, but part of it is adsorbed with organic material form.Li has a close relationship with aluminosilicate rock, and it also related to adsorption of organic material.
