| The genus Gentiana(Gentianaceae)consists of 360 species,in which 248 species were recorded in China.Researchers have focused on the ecological,medicinal and ornamental characters of Gentiana.However,the taxonomy of Gentiana was rather difficult and confusing.In the study,we aimed to revise the taxonomy of the two sections(Sect.Monopodiae and Sect.Kudoa of Gentiana)and two gentians in Flora of Hubei.Based on literature survey,specimen examination in herbaria and field work,we found some useful traits for the taxonomy of above two sections.For example,the leaf shape,the number of leaves on branches,the trichomes,the type and size of corollas,the morphology of corolla plicae and calyx lobus are reliable diagnostic characters.The results were as following:(1).Based on the morphological variation patterns and previous studies,35 species of the above two sections were recognized.Specifically,Gentiana tizuensis Franch.should be treated as the synonym of G.stipitata Edgeworth;G.setulifolia C.Marquand should be treated as the synonym of G.ecaudata C.Marquand;G.dolichocalyx T.N.Ho should be treated as the synonym of G.lawrencei Burkill.(2).The key of the species and discussion of taxonomic treatments of Gentiana Sect.Monopodiae were provided.The characters description of G.rigescens Franch.were corrected in the paper.Some relative species in Gentiana Sect.Kudoa were separated and discussed,as well as the confusions in this section.Variation range and evolution of the above two sections were also discussed in the study.(3).The two gentians,G.hupehensis Q.H.Liu and G.wanyuensis T.N.Ho from Flora of Hubei were respectively revised as the synonym of G.rubicunda Franchet and G.macrauchena C.Marquand.Additionally,the distribution and taxonomic history of the two gentians were also provided.The study discussed the taxonomic treatments of species and would provid some references for the following study on molecular phylogeny,biogeography and the revision of Flora in this taxon. |
