Maritime jobs such as ocean shipping, naval warfare are in high demand for fresh water.So it is to the desert areas. Desalination technology is in great needed. Therefore, continuous development and improvement of desalination technology has important significance.In this paper, a new solution of desalination, positive pressure distillation, was given. In order to study the performance of the new solution, we designed an experimental device. In the third chapter, the system processes was designed, and the thermal-hydraulic calculation of the system was given. The measurement system was initially designed to provide an important basis for the structures of the test bed.Separator plays an important role in improving the quality of fresh water produced by desalination. To study the pressure drop, a separator experimental device was designed and built in this paper. At the same time, a new method of separation efficiency measurement was tested. The experimental medium was wet saturated steam with the flow rate range from 2 to lOm/s under atmospheric pressure. The mesh units(8cm in diameter, 5-20cm in thickness,0.6mm?2mm in layer spacing) used for test was made by flat wire(stainless steel) with size 0.1 x0.4mm. The results of the experiment showed that:1. The new method, devised for the measurements of the humidity of steam and the separation efficiency of the separator, could not be achieved in the experimental device. To make it worked, some change, such as decreasing the device between the boiler and the separator and reforming the sampling method, is needed.2. The pressure drop of the separator is proportional to the square of the speed.3. The pressure drop of the separator is proportional to the thickness of the mesh under the same speed of steam, when the packing density is similar.4. There is a minimum value of the pressure drop of the single-layer of the mesh with the increasing of the layer spacing. And with the increasing of the velocity of the steam, the layer spacing where the minimum of the pressure drop appeared would increase.
