Tidal energy plays a important role for its advantages, such as sustainability, wide distribution and high energy density and so on. China has 3.2 thousand km of coastline,including 1.8 thousand km mainland coastline and 1.4 thousand km island coastline. There are about 300 lanes in China with in 13 948.52 MW tidal current energy resources in total.That is to say, we can confirm that China is very rich in current energy. But the energy has not been exploited well for the lower technology compared to the Western.In this paper , a floating tidal power station was designed. The main research contents are as follows:1. For the requirement, the author have finished the general design of floating tidal power station, including the ship, support structure and lifting device , and have finished the structure design based on the CCS Rules.2. Based on 3-D potential theory, the author has finished the motion and dynamical response of floating tidal power station by the SESAM software, and also the analysis for the result.3. Based on the finite element method, the author has finished the analysis of strength for tidal power station structure by ANSYS software. In this process, the author computed the structure strength with each wave angle in every condition, and then the author has compared the result with the Rules of CCS. The result shows that the structure of the station is reliable.4. The have selected three nodes to compute the fatigue years based on the theory of short term fatigue cumulative damage and S-N curve.
