The loss assessment of buildings caused by earthquake is a very important part of the earthquake loss assessment, which is of great guiding significance and reference value for the rescue and reconstruction in the disaster area after the earthquake. The traditional earthquake loss assessment of buildings uses a sampling method to collect data and then evaluates based on these representative data. However, using the sample data instead of the overall data is a kind of compromise, which will weaken the accuracy of the assessment outcomes to a certain extent. With the advent of the information age,the amount of information in different sectors grows rapidly and the types of information become more and more complex.Under this background, the concept of big data is brought forward.Big data not only features huge amount, but also features heterogeneity and value. However,in order to explore the hidden value of big data,a convenient, fast, economical computing tool is required.Cloud computing is a computing model to achieve low cost and high computing via a shared cloud resource pool, which is recognized as the best weapon to deal with big data at present. The data on the earthquake disaster assessment is also growing rapidly. In the face of this growth, the traditional computing and data storage method show too many problems in terms of processing speed. It is pointed out in Opinions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on urban planning and construction management that " the urban wisdom management shall be promoted;the intelligent construction of urban management and service system shall be strengthened;the integration of modern information technologies such as big data, internet of things and cloud computing, and urban management service shall be promoted;the level of urban governance and service shall be enhanced".The wisdom management of earthquake disaster assessment shall also be promoted and the modern information technology means shall be introduced into related fields such as earthquake disaster assessment to get a better development.Main contents of this paper are as the following:1)Summarize the domestic and overseas development status of big data and cloud computing applied in the field of seismic data processing.Upon a great deal of data query, analysis and comparison, the cloud development platform of this paper is finally selected as Hadoop. At the same time, three technologies of cloud computing used in this paper are clarified based on the requirements of the data storage and computing speed: MapReduce programming model,HDFS distributed file system and HBase non-relational database, and the necessary introduction of these three related technologies is made.2)The shortcomings of the currently-used traditional loss assessment of buildings caused by earthquake are analyzed in detail. An ideal method to evaluate the detailedearthquake losses based on cloud computing technology using big data is designed by combining with the continuous development trend of collection means of earthquake disaster data of buildings.Full data participation and assessment are emphasized and the design of the following parts is completed: a)as for data storage,a reasonable HBase data table structure for easy storage and data manipulation is designed. And a program which enables batch data to be input in the HBase is completed.b)as for data processing, reasonably split the entire assessment process to design an efficient and reliable algorithm flow, and achieve it through the MapReduce program.3)A large amount of data is input into the HBase database.Under the same database conditions, respectively use the cloud computing cluster and the traditional stand-alone model to calculate the loss value of buildings caused by earthquake.Compare the computing speed of the two computing tools used in the assessment of this paper.
