In recent years,more and more researchers have introduced geographic information science into historical geography research and have made a lot of research results. However, due to the temporal and spatial characteristics of basic historical geographic information, there still some vital problems need to be studied when organize and apply historical geographic information into historical geography research.This paper discusses and analyzes the connotation and characteristics of the basic historical geographic information, and points out that the basic historical geographic information should be based on the classification of modern natural geography elements.After taking full account of the time factors, hereinafter a classification of natural and social information organizations in different scales and the basic historical geographic information is the fundamental, universal and shareable part of historical geographic researches. The research of the organization of basic historical geographic information can provides digital foundations and theoretical guarantees to the research of exploit modern information technology in the study of historical time and space evolution.On this basis, this paper takes the vicissitudes of Nanjing city in recent hundred years into concern, analyzes the composition of basic historical geographic information,studies the data classification and organization method according to the characteristics of basic historical geographic information from two aspects of maps and documents.The paper analyzes the temporal and spatial characteristics of the basic historical geographic information, improves the model of the ground state correction data, puts forward an object-oriented data organization method of basic historical geographic information, and realizes the data storage of the basic historical geographic information and establishes the basic historical geography database with non-relational database, to achieve and display the basic historical information life cycle and process of evolution.This paper has obtained the following research results:(1) Analyzed the composition of the basic historical geographic information,combined with historical maps and historical materials,summarizes the basic historical geographic information, and determines the classification and cataloging method for the life cycle characteristics of basic historical geographic information.(2) To study the characteristics of basic historical geographic information from the three aspects of time, space and attribute of geographical entity, summarize the temporal and spatial transformation of basic historical geographic information, and take the changes of administrative division and historical traffic in Nanjing during the Republic of China as an example to summarize its temporal and spatial variation.(3) Developed the principles and standards of historical geographic information model, and designed a general data organization method for basic historical geographic information. Take the vicissitudes of Nanjing's administrative area and historical traffic as an example, carried out a classification design to verify the validity and feasibility of the data organization method in this paper.(4) In view of the contradiction between unstructured geographic objects and structured computer storage, this paper is based on non-relational database, and the GeoJSON format is used to organize the spatial database. The Meteor real-time data frame is used to develop the prototype system. Proposed the data organization method,and demonstrated the basic historical geography elements of the evolution process.
