The purpose of this study was to reveal the differences of leaf traits between each genus and specie, and provide an evidence basis for plant classification. For this purpose,15 legumes, which belongs to 9 different genus were selected. The leaves surface, characters of leaf epidermal cells, stomata and anatomical structure of plant leaves were surveyed using the paraffin section, blade dissociation technique and optical microscopy. The results indicate that the stomata are distributed in the upper and lower epidermis of all the 15 plants. The array mode of epidermal cell and the type of stomata were irregula. The shape of stomata was round-oval.Characteristics of epidermal stomata can be one of the classification basises to plants. The density and index of stomata characteristics on lower epidermis were more stable than on upper epidermis in and among genus. Those indexes can not be the classification basises to the 1 plants, based on the results of data analysis on anatomical structure, which showed irregular differences in and among genus. Therefore, whether the leaf structure characteristics can be one of the classification basises to plants remains to be further study.
