The CloudSat data products(2B-GEOPROF,2B-Temp,2B-Lidar and 2B-CWC-RVOD) from January 2008 to October 2010 were used to study the macro and micro cloud properties such as cloud occurrence frequency,vertical distribution,water content,particle effective radius and so on in 8 regions in China.The occurrence frequency,thickness and interval distance of clouds in each region were the largest in the summer;the ice-water mixed clouds appeared more than warm clouds and cold clouds;the clouds composed of small cloud particles appeared more than drizzle particles,and the clouds composed of drizzle particles appeared more than rain particles;the more cloud layers,the less cloud occurrence frequency,the thinner clouds and the less cloud interval distance.Cloud distribution had obvious regional differences,the cloud occurrence frequency,the warm cloud proportion,the proportion of over 2 layers clouds,the cloud thickness and interval distance of the Sichuan Basin,central China and South China regions were more than the desert,Gobi,North China,Northeast China and the plateau regions,the cold cloud proportion of the former regions was less than the latter ones.The cloud occurrence frequency of the desert,Gobi and North China regions was largest in the fall .The frequency of cloud occurrence in the desert was larger than that in other seasons.The occurrence frequency of drizzle particles of the Sichuan Basin in the fall was larger than small cloud particles and rain particles.The annual cloud occurrence frequency of the Sichuan Basin was more than the other regions.The cloud particles with different scales had typical distribution characteristics with height.In the 7 regions except the plateau,there existed an extremal region of the cloud occurrence frequency corresponding to small cloud particles below 3km.In the summer of the 6 regions except the desert and the plateau regions,there existed an extremal region of the cloud occurrence frequency corresponding to rain particles below 3km.Over 3km,there was such a trend in general,the majority cloud size changed from rain particles or drizzle particles to small cloud particles with the increase of height.It was found that the ice water content and effective radius in the North China region was greater than the Gobi region in 12-14km,and the liquid water content,effective radius of liquid water,ice water content and effective radius of ice water in the North China region was less than the Gobi region below 3km combining the aerosol data by comparing the cloud microphysical parameters.
