The southern margin of Altay,Xinjaing,is one of the important polymetallic metallogenic belts of China.Its Maizi and Kelan basins are two important places of iron ore deposits,with many large and medium iron ore.The Batebakebulake iron deposit is a medium-sized iron deposit located in the Maizi basin,which is located in the leptynite,leptite and amphibolite of the Upper Silurian-Lower Devonian Kangbutiebao Formation.The orebody is mainly distributed in skarns as irregular,stratiform-like,lenses form.Based on the field investigation and previous research results,this paper has obtained the following results through the study of the geological characteristics,skarn minerals,fluid inclusions,geochemistry,metallogenic epoch and mineralization mechanism of the Batebakebulake iron deposit:(1)Mineralization has experienced skarn period,regional metamorphism and supergene oxidation period.The skarn period is further divided into the early skarn stage,the degenerate alteration stage,the oxide stage,and the quartz-sulfide stage.(2)The results of electron probe analysis show that the terminal component of garnet is mainly composed of andradite and the pyroxene is mainly composed of diopside and hedenbergite.The end member of hornblende is mainly Ferrotschermakite,Ferrohornblende and Ferro-actinolite.The study shows that the skarn of the Batebakebulake iron ore is an metasomatic skarn,and the formation of the deposit is closely related to the skarn.(3)Hydrogen and Oxygen isotopes show that the ore-forming fluid is mainly magmatic fluids,meteoric water increased gradually from early to later stage;Carbon and Oxygen isotopes show that the Carbon of ore-forming fluid from deep within the earth or mantle,and the Sulphur from deep magma,the composition of REE suggests that the forming of skarn and ore is related to the wall rocks,the ore-forming materials is derived from the Kangbutiebao basic volcanics strata.(4)The ore-forming mechanism of the deposit is a series of skarn minerals formed by the granite magmatic hydrothermal metasomatism,and the iron ore is formed in the degenerate alteration stage.The genetic type is skarn type iron ore.
