Kuroshio is a famous North Pacific western boundary current, with strong velocity, large flow and high-temperature,high salt, high transparency features. It flows through the East China Sea.It plays a decisive role in the East China Sea for a variety of hydrological characteristics. At the same time,it's changes will also affect China's southeastern coastal fishing area, the sea fog dynamics, pollutant drift and distribution, ship navigation etc.More importantly,it also has a close relationship with the coastal areas of climate change.Kuroshio front is the intersection of the Kuroshio masses and coastal water masses.it's temporal change is also a part of the Kuroshio change. The study can help people understanding the movement of the Kuroshio.Development of remote sensing technology for Kuroshio study provides a new technique, which can be in the same area for a long time continuous simultaneous observation of large limit, and has a high spatial and temporal resolution. So the observation of phenomena in the ocean at all scales have good adaptability. In this paper, using daily MODIS L1 B data of the East China Sea from 2004 to 2013 10 years. After data processing, sea surface temperature inversion, obtained the SST data of the East the China Sea.Using this data gives a minimum temperature of the Kuroshio front edge criterion by statistical analysis.Based on these standards on the use of data through SST gradient image gradient calculated to discriminate obtain thermal front image.Establish Kuroshio front extract principles for the Kuroshio front extraction.Using multiple segments perpendicular to the Kuroshio front path assist to conducted analysis of multiple time scales of temporal and spatial variation of the Kuroshio front. The following conclusions: Kuroshio front of a short time changes by a big margin;inter-annual average position was stable;Kuroshio front seasonal variation is not consistent for many years.
