MRIL-P is one of NMR(nuclear magnetic resonance)instrument which produced by Halliburton Co.The main function is measuring pore size of theporosity, permeability porosity, free fluid porosity, irreducible water saturation and clay bound water without the affection of skeleton in distribution of sedimentary rocks. It can be improved conventional logging analysisto determine whether the strata containing oil gas reservoir and even the kind of oil(light oil or heavy oil is),gas species by using these information. So it is very necessary to doing further study of the MRIL-P logging instrument.By closely combining with the data of ShengLi Oilfield from MRIL-P logging instrument, logging data, fieldsoperationexperience and other basic information since 2003,through detailed analysis and study on the field operation, instruments and the basic information,it illuminates the NMR technology in the evaluation of oil,gas layer technology advantages and disadvantages, the improvement measures in the future. From MRIL-P principle, this paper introduces technology of NMR,how to obtain stratigraphic information, technical superiority of the technologywhich plays an important role in the logging reservoir evaluation in oil & gas division. This paper introduced the composition of MRIL-P,the function of each module, circuit description and particulartroubleshooting analyzed, which also has a guiding significancefor the technical personnel in maintenance and operation.According to the construction experience and the problems from the data interpretation, field operation and capabilities of maintenance point out the problems in logging technology and improvement ideas. It is a guidance role in the development for the future of the NMR logging technology and geological application.
