Flexible risers and umbilicals are integral equipments of offshore oil development which are widely used in deep sea oil exploitation.In order to ensure that the flexible risers and umbilicals do not bend excessively in all kinds of working conditions,it is necessary to carry on the protection of flexible risers and umbilicals by using bend limiters.In China,the design and manufacturing of bend limiter mostly rely on foreign countries so that it is necessary to develop independent technology.Bend restrictor,bend stiffener and bell-mouth are three kinds of bend limiters for flexible risers and umbilicals,and they are always applied to different ocean environments and different positions of flexible risers and umbilicals.This paper focuses on the research of design,manufacturing and experimental technique for polymer bend restrictor and bend stiffener,because both of them can be made of polyurethane elastomer.In this paper,the design process of bend restrictor and bend stiffener is summarized,and design content and design method are given based on the failure mode.At the same time,finite element software is used to establish the three-dimensional finite element model of the bend restrictor and bending stiffener.The reliability of the design method is verified by examples.On this basis,this paper studies the manufacturing method of bend restrictor and bend stiffener,and according to this method,the bend restrictor and bend stiffener are manufactured.At the same time,this paper gives the experimental verification method of bend stiffener,and verify the effect of bend stiffener and the accuracy of the design method by the experimental results.
