As a new type of beams,Airy beams with the properties of diffraction-free,self-healing and self-bending have received much attention from the researchers.In the past decade,the studies of the Airy beams have gained lots of achievements,for example,utilizing the method of cubic phase modulation to produce Airy beams and analyzing the propagation properties of Airy beams in different medium.With the further research of Airy beams,the production and the propagation properties of the Airy-family beams,such as Airy-Gaussian beams,Airy-Vortex beams and Airy-Gaussian-Vortex beams become a new hotspotIn the paper,we first introduce the research background,the history and the optical features of the Airy beams.On the basis of analyzing the basic principle of Airy beams,the main generation methods of finite energy Airy beams are summarized.On the other hand,we introduce the chiral medium and analyze its circular birefringence(CB)property that when a linearly polarized light is incident upon a slab of chiral medium,it can be split into left hand circular polarized(LCP)light and right hand circular polarized(RCP)light with different refractive indices.Secondly,we analyze the propagation properties of the Airy-Gaussian beams in a chiral medium based on the Huygens diffraction integral and ABCD transfer matrix.The chiral parameters and truncation factors referred as influencing factors in the numerical simulation having been studied,and the results show that the deflection trajectories can be controlled.The competing factor has been introduced to explain the Airy-Gaussian beams translating into Airy beams or Gaussian beams.Thirdly,in order to analyze the effects of optical vortex(OV)acting on the beams,we analyze the propagation properties of the Airy-Gaussian-Vortex beams in a chiral medium based on the Huygens diffraction integral and ABCD transfer matrix.The propagation dynamics of Airy-Gaussian-Vortex beams with different chiral parameters and competing factors is numerical simulated.Then the propagation properties affected by the vortex centers and vortex orders have been analyzed,which clarify the feature of self-healing.Meanwhile,with increasing the propagation distances,the OV is transmitted together with the main lobe and the vortex will be recovered after the overlap position.Finally,based on the polarization properties of Airy beams and paraxial beams solutions of Maxwell's equations,we study the polarization properties of the Airy-Vortex beams.According to the definition of the Airy-Vortex beams,the components of dominant polarization(DP),cross-polarization(CP)and longitudinal polarization(LP)of the linearly polarized Airy-Vortex beams and circularly polarized Airy-Vortex beams have been analyses with the truncation factor,competing factor and vortex order.In conclusion,the propagation properties of Airy-Gaussian beams and Airy-Gaussian-Vortex beams and polarization properties of Airy-Vortex beams with different chiral parameters,truncation factors,competing factors and vortex orders have been analyzed,and the above results are useful for controlling the propagation trajectories of Airy beams.
