Due to its abundant oil and gas resource potential, the South China Sea and its surrounding sea is known as the "Second Persian Gulf. The regional tectonic evolution is mainly related to the continental disintegration and plate collision and assembly. The previous studies are mainly focused on the formation and evolution of the South China Sea(SCS),the expansion and extension of the region, and the origin of the SCS.However, the mechanism of the formation and evolution of the SCS has been unclear, and there is a lack of unified geological understanding of the regularity of the tectonic evolution of a series of Cenozoic basins from the periphery of the SCS to the Sundaland. In this paper, through the simulation of 27 tectonic evolution sections in nearly 20 basins in the peripheral waters of the SCS and the Sundaland region,we have selected more than a dozen typical geological profiles of these basins to analyze the tectonic evolution process, and compared the basin strata..In addition, the tectonic sedimentary evolution of the study area was divided into four major phases in combination with major geologic events in the geological history and the history of tectonic deposition in the SCS and the Sundaland. Finally, combining the above studies with the regional tectonic setting, the differences in the tectonic evolution of the Cenozoic basins in the study area were studied, and it was concluded that the start and end time of the inter-basin tectonic evolution stage was obviously migratory and non-synchronous,and that the basin was in the same evolutionary stage. The differences in the characteristics of the activities and the differences in the evolution of the basin's nature are three major differences. Therefore, this dissertation is guided by the idea of Basin Dynamics Control Basin Tectonic Evolution and its Transformation.Based on the geological, drilling, and seismic profiles of the SCS and the surrounding ocean basins, the paper draws extensively from previous research results and selects the SCS and its periphery. Some characteristic basins in the sea area carry out research on the differences in the tectonic evolution of these basins. The differences in the tectonic evolution of the continental margin basins in the SCS and peripheral waters, especially the differences in the asynchronism and tectonic transformation of the stretches and rifts in different continental margin basins, can reasonably explain the expansion and formation process of the SCS.It also provides the necessary dynamic conditions for the development of hydrocarbon source rocks and the formation of hydrocarbon reservoirs in the SCS and its surrounding ocean basins.
