Numerical simulation and forecast is important technique to undertake research on physical oceanography and marine environmental science.Specialized softwares and tools to visualize and analyse marine numerical simulation data are lacked in China,which leads to the indigency of output,deficiency of dynamic visualization and mapping environment and weakness on analysis function.Generally the marine numerical simulation data is mutlidimensional and spatio-temporal and as a result GIS can be a significant tool to achieve visualization and analysis.This paper takes elaborate analysis on the storage structure of Net CDF format marine data,coming up with a differentiated configuration scheme,on the basis of which a dynamic mesh model is proposed as well as several arithmetics related to visualization.Then two systems are designed and implemented based on Arc GIS Engine and Geo Server to realize the visualization and analysis of marine numerical simulation data.The main work is as follows.(1)The introduction to common mode of marine numerical simulation and mesh subdivision method,elaboration to the storage mode,coordinate system and data operating API of Net CDF data,proposal of differentiated configuration scheme to read and parse data for various utility system.(2)The design of the key arithmetics on visualization of marine numerical simulation data which uses different mesh subdivision method,proposal of dynamic grid model and provision of algorithm implementation to solve the rarefying problem to vector data when visualizing the vector field and the raster filling problem when visualizing the scalar field,design of an experiment to analyse the efficiency of the arithmetic,discussion of interpolation invertion of two kinds of grid and isoline tracing arithmetic to triangle network data.(3)Design and development of marine numerical simulation data visualizing and analysis system using Arc GIS Engine and Geo Server,improvement in transformation of multidimensional data to GIS vector data,reconstruction of automatic service publishment using Geo Server.(4)Provision of visualization and analysis result on two platforms which includes selfadapting visualization of vector field and dynamic visualization of scalar field in different map scales,mouse position follow-up inquiry,time series analysis,single point query,line and profile analysis,vector field spatial statistic,et.
