Basedon above background, the focuses contain analysing the apparel pattern of Balenciaga's through researchand literature data, then coping the selected appropriate costume according to the characteristic patternsand analyzing the methods of the flat pattern design of those garments method. This research include thefollowing three parts:Firstly, research on the Balenciaga's work indicates that: most of Balenciaga's works, which includedress, skirt suits and coats, were concentrated in the19th century50--60years. The Analysis of thedevelopment changes of the characteristics of their clothing is done in order to understand the innovationof their pattern.Secondly, according to the characteristics of the silhouette and structural features of Balenciaga'sgarment, the selected ones are copied by the three-dimensional cutting method to get the flat patterns.After the process of copy, the comparison the images with the original physical ones indicate the copy grasp its silhouette characteristics of the original works in the overall shape and pattern.At last, the process of researching on how to transfer the basic pattern of the garment pattern to theBalenciaga's characteristic pattern implies the innovative features of Balenciaga's garment pattern.This study systematically analyzes the characteristics of Balenciaga's clothing from different years,copy the very unique clothing works to get the pattern characteristics and summarizes the rules of thespecial pattern design. There is a certain contribution of accumulation to the theoretical research, acertain reference value to the actual garment design and pattern design.
