As we all know, the iron and steel industry is the basis for the development of the industry. Especially in recent years, with the vigorous development of the real estate and transportation industry, the yield and quality of the steely products have crucial effect on improving the overall national strength. At present, the more popular method usually used in steelmaking is converter steelmaking. This process has many advantages, such as reducing the time, investiment and cost, improving the quality of thesteel, increasing the productivity and speed of melting steel, and strengthening the adaptability of raw materials. The converter tilting devices are the most important part in the steelmaking system. Whether tilting devices can run normally not only influences the steel plant normal production, but also is related to the product and life safety. So technical staff is required to know all the tilting devices working condition, through the changes of the tilting devices to reflect the condition and make guidance suggestions on the converter fault processing and overhaul.This article takes the tilting devices' torque of converts on-line monitoring in Shougang Qiangang as the backing. On the basis of analyzing equipment characteristics, fault types and characteristics during converting steelmaking, the tilting devices'torque of converts on-line monitoring system is designed combined with the actual production requirement. The function of status signal conversion, data collection, state analysis and judgment and real-time display based on multi sensors. The system can realize data readback, analysis and automatic alarm. If the torque value is abnormal, it can make an alert real time. A benign loop of measurement, analysis, alarm and subsequent treatment can be formed to ensure the tilting devices normal operation and realize regular production of steelmaking plant.The tilting devices'torque of converts on-line monitoring has been used in 5 converter tilting devices, at the same time the tilting devices'working status can be monitored on-line. The torque of converts'tilting device on-line monitoring system plays a key role in the 4# converter sneak furnace trouble shooting and processing in 2012 March.
