The high-speed and high-integration are the trend of developing CNC machine tools in recent years. The improvement of spindle power and speed increases thermal deformation. Studies have shown that, manufacturing error due to thermal deformation accounts for about 40 to 70 percent of total manufacturing errors. Therefore, study of thermal characteristics test and thermal deformation analysis is significant. This text selects a typical CNC lathe --spindle of HTC2550 as the object to analyze structure characteristics of this spindle and its thermal characteristics. After actual test by building a spindle thermal error system, the paper provides basis for design, manufacture, use and assess the company's high-end CNC machine tool spindles.This text firstly analyzes the current situation of thermal error analysis and research of CNC machine tool spindles;secondly takes HTC2550 Horizontal CNC lathe spindle as an example to analyze spindle system statically and dynamically by using ansys platform. Then conducts steady-state thermal analysis, transient thermal analysis of heat modal analysis in the spindle system. Finally through independent research to build a spindle thermal error test system which is very easy to adjust.Record the thermal deformation of the spindle during actual operation,with the ability to test the thermal error of the spindle, and conducts a practical test.Through the study of this article, the theoretical analysis and experimental data of spindle for NC machine tool can be concluded; the characteristics of the integral structure and the best structured data for the spindle can be analyzed; the temperature rise and all-direction thermal deformation in the entire operation process of spindle can be worked out. The study of the article supplies the transient state during the operation process of spindle and the thermal deformation temperature values under the stable thermal condition; provides date support for the designer on the design of spindle structure, thermal dissipation, thermal symmetry and the choice of key locating surface; provides the company with the theoretical method on the structure analysis of spindle for NC machine and the thermal deformation temperature testing and the software and hardware testing platform. The study of this article can make up for the each division's current blank of thermal characteristic test on NC machine tool, enhance the precision retaining ability of the products through enriching the testing steps and improve the technical value of the product. The abundant accumulation of thermal test data on NC machine tool provides the basis for Shenyang Machine Tool (Group) Company on the design, manufacture and improvement of spindle for the high-end NC machine tool.
