Excavation undoubtedly leads to a more intensive release of pollutants from soil to surrounding environment, resulting in a potential risk to health.Using passive samplers, monitoring and analysis the hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCHs) and dichlorodiphenyl-Trichloroethanes (DDTs) in the air of a contamination site and surround areas for a long time during the excavation process of an abandoned pesticide contaminated site. Studying organochlorine pesticides in soil pollution of the contaminated sites, mining disturbance on the air distribution of organochlorine pesticides, meteorological conditions on the concentration of pollutants in the air, choose the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s health risk assessment model to estimate the repair workers intake air amount of organochlorine pesticides. Results showed that the contents of HCHs and DDTs were higher in the soil samples of the contamination.DDTs was higher than the content of HCHs,β-HCH is the major substance in the HCHs.The DDTs of topsoil make mainly aerobic degradation reactions, but DDTs of deepsoil occurs mainly anaerobic degradation. The concentrations of pollutant in the air uplift during the excavation process, the uplifting multiple venues of different functional areas in the air is different, the largest venues is DDTs in the Ground air,but the least venues is in the residential air. Concentrations of HCHs and DDTs in air was positively correlated with temperature, negatively correlated with wind speed, Temperature is the main factor which influence organochlorine pesticides. Results of health risk assessment showed that non-carcinogenic risk value is less than one.but the carcinogenic risk value exceeds 10-6. Cancer risk of α-HCH is higher than another monomer. The higher the temperature, the higher of the carcinogenic risk value, the greater the risk generated,so we should be strengthened in site-specific risk management to avoid operating at high temperatures to reduce dust.
