our country coal resources are rich, but the natural environment is more complex, there are many potential safety hazard. After the accident, the existing security monitoring system, can not be timely implementation of accurate location of underground workers, the serious influence for the first time to rescue people trapped, causing heavy casualties and economic losses. Based on this background, this paper designed a kind of downhole positioning system based on wireless sensor network, this system can effectively improve the level of coal mine safety production monitoring and management, reduce the accident loss.Firstly, this paper presents an improved RSSI based weighted centroid localization algorithm, which makes use of the reciprocal sum of distance between the beacon nodes and unknown nodes as the beacon node weight, make full use of RSSI data, and avoid information submerged, to locate unknown nodes. Because the RSSI value is easily influenced by outside environment factors, the positioning calculation results will also be impacted, so the paper correct the RSSI value to improve the reliability of the data, thereby improve the positioning accuracy. Through the simulation analysis, the improved algorithm can effectively improve the positioning accuracy of the system to a certain extent.Secondly, in order to adapt to the subsurface environment is complex and changeable features, gateway nodes, route nodes and mobile nodes for the design of hardware and software. Gateway nodes, and routing node of CC2430 chips has been adopted to design, while the mobile node location engine:the CC2431 chip to design, implement the positioning of mobile node.
