In this paper, experimental research on coal failure under uniaxial compression are carried out by using the acoustic emission and infrared radiation. According to the theory of the damage mechanics, the failure process of coal is divided into 4 stages—compaction phrase, elastic deformation stage, strain-hardening stage and strain-softening stage. The acoustic emission, infrared radiation information changes of coal have similar with the stages of coal damage, and by judge the information of acoustic emission and infrared radiation, the damage stage of coal can be determined.Comparative analysis the acoustic emission, infrared radiation information changes of impact coal damage, and give the precursory acoustic emission, infrared radiation information of coal failure.
