There are many abandoned coal resources at the top of the goaf in our country's coal mines, and the number is very huge. How to safely re-develop and use the resources is an important issue of building a conservation-mining. Combined the project of Tongjialiang Mine, laboratory experiments, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation are used to research the interaction between upward mining and hard rock strata between coal seams.Trough the mechanics experiments of the coal and rock, the parameters are determined. The hard rock plate's destruction is analyzed by thin and thick plate theory, and the critical condition of their destruction is determined.Comparative analysis of the failure height of the rock strata between coal seams using the method of empirical formula and EH-4 electromagnetic imaging system, the relationship of upward mining and rock strata's extent of damage has been determined. Combining the movement and deformation of rock strata between coal seams, it is analyzed of the impact on upward mining from the damage of the rock strata between coal seams.Finally, using the numerical simulation software to analyze the regularity at the condition of promoting the process of the upward mining, different depths and different mining plan, the movement and deformation regularity of rock strata between coal seams under the influence of upward mining has been obtained.
