Polyoxometalates?POMs? is a class of inorganic metal oxide clusters with rich oxygen atoms on the surface. It covers an enormous range in size and structure and possess the superior potential applications in photocatalysis and electrocatalytic. Organic ligand with diverse spatial configuration, compared with inorganic compounds with richer structure and larger surface area. It is beneficial to build the formation of novel structures and functional materials. POMs and organic ligands are modified by the different transition metasls, forming of polyoxometalate based organic-inorganic hybrid materials. The hybrid materials can combine the advantages of both polyoxometalates and organic ligands.Therefore, the multifunctional materials with diverse structures and excellent functional properties are obtained. In this paper, classic polyoxometalates and organic ligands with rich oxygen atom and nitrogen atom are modified by the Ag and Cu atoms. Under hydrothermal synthesis condition, four novel compounds based on POMs cluster inorganic-organic hybrid materials have been synthesized:[Ag?phen?2]2?Agphen?2SiW12O40?1?[Ag2bimb?phen?2](H2SiW12O40)?2?Cu2?en?4?ox?2(HPW12O40)?3?Cu2?en?4?ox?2(H2SiW12O40)?4??phen = 1,10-phenanthroline, bimb =1,3-bis?1-imidazoly?benzene en =ethylenediamine and ox = oxalate?And they have been characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, IR,elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, etc. Structure analysis reveals that compounds 1-2 are supramolecular structure. Compounds 3-4 are isomorphic and show one dimensional chain. Meanwhile, the photocatalysis properties of compounds 1-2 have been studied. The experimental results show that compound1 can be used as a photocatalyst towards the decomposition of organic pollutant methylene blue?MB? under ultraviolet?UV?. However, compound 2 restrains the photodegradation of MB. Then,the electrocatalytic properties of compounds 3–4towards NO2-, IO3-, H2O2, ascorbic acid?AA? and dopamine?DA? were investigated in details. Experimental results show that compound 3 have the electrocatalytic efficiency towards the reduction of H2O2, which suggests that compound 3 have potential application in detection of H2O2. Compound 4possesses electrocatalytic activities towards reduction of IO3-, which is a potential electrocatalyst in detection of IO3-.
