The microstructure of sinter is too complicated to display it's three-dimensional morphology by using 2D cross-section image.In order to know the real microstructure of sinter directly and accurately,and to analysis of microstructure characteristics of sinter in depth,the three-dimensional microstructure of sinter has been reconstructed by using serial sectioning and 3D reconstruction techniques in this paper.Using this method to obtain 3D microstructure of two kinds of sinter,also using the vickers hardness instrument to measure micro hardness and fracture toughness of each mineral.Finally,quantitative analysis of different minerals was carried and the drum strength of two kinds of sinter was compared.The main contents of this paper are summarized as follows:(1)Building a mineral analysis method based on serial sections-three dimensional reconstruction techniques: The three-dimensional microstructure of sinter has been reconstructed by using serial sectioning and 3D reconstruction techniques;The 3D image segmentation technique was adopted to identify and threshold all kinds of minerals in the 3D image which has been reconstructed before,the condition of different minerals' distribution and connection was revealed by perspective in conjunction with cutaway techniques;Different minerals' 3D image also has been reconstructed in this paper to analyze its 3D morphology in detail;At last,quantitative analysis of different minerals was carried.(2)Micro indentation method can be used to measure the microhardness of each ore phase structure,and the fracture toughness value of each sinter phase can be calculated according to the microscopic crack,the results show that hematite and acicular calcium ferrite's micromechanical properties are high,the micromechanical properties of the silicate is lowest.(3)The relationship between micromechanical properties and the drum strength was studied combining with the quantitative statistics results of two kinds of sinterphase structure,found that the better micromechanical properties of the sinter is,the higher drum strength will be,so the content of acicular hematite calcium ferrite should be promoted to improve the strength of the sinter.
