Lead acid battery is widely used in electric vehicle, communication, information, national defense and other fields as a kind of power energy. There are about 110 million lead-acid batteries scraped every year in our country, which contains more than 3 million tons of lead. Recovery of lead from lead-acid batteries is beneficial not only for the recycling utilization of lead resources, but also for the protection of environmental. As the inapplicable imported technology and equipment to the situation in China and the insufficient of domestic independent technology equipment, the clean regeneration of the lead-acid battery in our country had always been blocked. The desulphurization of lead paste is the key to the whole regeneration process, so carrying out basic and applied research on it has great significance to the regeneration of lead-acid battery and the upgrade of lead circulation industry.On the basis of acquaint different kinds of lead paste properties, and the project is mainly to study the problem of lead paste covered by desulfurization reaction product on the surface layer which can hinder the desulfurization reaction, and the desulfurization agent was sodium carbonate. In order to achieve the purpose of efficient desulfurization, energy saving and environmental protection, the paper improved the related structures of traditional reactor and constructed the surface forced regeneration reaction system based on particle self collision.Firstly, the paper conclude that the leaching reaction of lead paste desulfurization is controlled by solid-film diffusion through mass transfer analysis, the lead carbonate layer which covered on the surface of lead sulfate hindered the reaction of desulfurization. Based on the analysis of mass transfer, the paper puts forward the concept of "surface update", and it refers to the timely removal of lead carbonate from the surface of lead sulfate particles by mechanical force.By building small desulphurization experiment device based on the principle of particle self collisions in laboratory, the optimum reaction conditions were investigated:pH= 8-10 and a molar ratio of Na2CO3 to PbSO4 of 1.0-1.1:1. The desulfurization efficiency increases with the reaction temperature and can be qualified with 40? in experiment. When the slurry concentration is 20?70%, the final sulfur content can reach demand value.At the end of this paper, the application of the experimental system in the actual production is investigated, and the experimental device was set up in the field of waste lead-acid battery recycling manufactory. The experimental raw materials are paste slurry after crushing. The results show that the desulfurization efficiency of the new reaction process is far better than the traditional kettle type stirring, and the new process can maintain the sulfur content of lead paste under 0.5% after 30min.
