EPSas an important part of the sludge flocs,was not only in sludge flocs phosphorus storage library,but also involved in the biological phosphorus removal process.Furthermore,EPS was one of the important factors affecting the sludge sedimentation performance.However,the specific role in biological phosphorus removal process was not clear.Sludge-Shifting SBR process is a new type of EBPR technology.The preliminary study has shown that the process has good performance of phosphorus removal and sedimentation.This paper uses Sludge-Shifting SBR process as the object,researches the role of EPS in the biological phosphorus removal and the relationship between EPS and sludge settling in non equilibrium growth environment.The experiment results show that:?1?Rsludge pollution was 0%,15% and 30%,EPS content the proportion of TP in the sludge were 27.9%,57.23% and 63.88%,respectively.During these conditions,EPS for the absorption of phosphorus accounted for sludge absorptioin of phosphorus content of more than 90%,whithc lead tophosphorus removal efficiency82.14% increase to 98.99%;?2?EPS phosphorus release accounted for 94.24% of total phosphorus release amount of sludgein Sludge-Shifting SBR process.The specific phosphorus release rate reached 28.88mg·?g h?-1,EPS P accounted for 98.31% of the amount of phosphorus in the sludge,the ratio of phosphorus uptake rate was 6.78mg·?g h?-1;?3?When increase of sludge transfer,the reaction of terminal sludge EPS content changed was little while EPS content in the sludge was volatility changesin the cycle of running;Sludge age more,EPS in sludge content more,from lack of oxygen to the aerobic process,sludge EPS content slightly increased;?4?SRT for 5d,10 d and 20 d EPS held by phosphorus were 0.027±0.002 mg·?mg EPS?-1,0.041±0.001mg·?mgEPS?-1 and 0.078±0.002 mg·?mg EPS?-1,but phosphorus removal efficiency of the system has not been significantly affected,more than 88%during the steady;?5?In the stable operation of the system,EPS and the total EPS in the polysaccharide content and sludge settleability was positively correlated,and sludge bulking,PS/PN value of activated sludge settlement properties of large amount of EPS and sludge settlement performance is not strong correlation between;?6?By adopting the static water model,wthen increasing the influent load,it can effectively control the expansion of the sludge.
