This paper presents an on-line monitoring system applied to the oil processing industry slotted screen problems encountered, based on image processing technology and machine vision. This system realizes high accuracy on screen slotted line monitoring, with a higher degree of automation. The main contents include:1. We design an automated on-line monitoring system: We set up the image acquisition model, write image processing algorithms procedures, and optimize the measurement results, to improve system performance.2. We proposed a slotted subpixel edge extraction method based on curve fitting, which meets the needs of different types of camera calibration.3. We proposed the geometric model and the calibration method of the camera. According to the features of the measuring environment, we choose the Zhang’s calibration method to conduct the camera calibration experiment and work out intrinsic parameters, external parameters of camera and lens distortion coefficient.4. It builds a software module with the I/O to synchronize image acquisition card collection. By 5V DC level signal produced when machining collection, it sets several timers to synchronize image acquisition and synchronized, and ensures not to get the image in a slotted away empty stage to achieve the image of stability online.5. We measured the kerf width dimensions and analyzed the experimental data, during the measurement,we calculated slit width dimensions by the slotted edge positioning. We selected 30 sets of measurement data to verify the feasibility of the measurement results, and we analyzed factors of measurement accuracy through variation of measurement error in slit width.
