With modern industry has been increasingly developing, the product competition based on time and quality is emerged distinctly. The R&D time and delivery in term of product become the key factors of “gaining market” so that it is extremely urgent for companies to cut down the product R&D cycle. Generally, complex products may cause the higher costs and longer cycle of research development as well as more subsystems than normal ones, which produce complicated interfaces among them, involve considerable technological fields and even huge products and systems of custom-built production. Therefore, it is tremendous challenge to do the research of complex products by companies in terms of its R&D mode and power. According to analysis of characteristics and requirements which complicated products research development may contain right now, some key technologies such as the product module partition, CAx technology and data management etc. can reconfigure the platform of complicated products. Taking the bag filter as an example for the verification, the majority of users of the platform are the designers and research personnel. Therefore, the primary jobs include:(1) According to the characteristics between complicated products and bag dust collectors, technological means of the fast design can be analyzed. Discussing the module division solution to the current production, the product platform can be reconfigured by using the way combines the constrained relationship among ports and generalized modularity design to divide complex products.(2) On the foundation of the module partition, the lateral and longitudinal module should be set up in order to enhance the reconfigurablity of the product platform. Hence, the spectrum series of complex products can be constructed by the similarity of the lateral module structures of main product functions.(3) The reconfigurable product platform can be realized by utilizing Pro/E 3D model and setting up vertical and horizontal parameters in Pro/program. In order to output the parameter data, users need to designate and redesign modules for the customized product.(4) The parameter data can be filtrated based on the requirement of CAE models during the product test verification. After that by using journal languages of Gambit and Fluent to build the CAE models, the simulation in these models can forecast the product performance, which provides an important basis for further product details. To verify the effectiveness, feasibility and advancement of the platform, the performance of the C-shape baghouse precipitator will be predicted as an example.
